What sparked your
interest in the motorsport world? My Dad who was against
motorbikes and the next door neighbour who took me for a spin on his
Suzuki 750 when I was about 13 - unbeknownst to Dad!
Who has been your
major influence? Dough Chivas - thanks to whom I came to
Australia (from Lugano, Switzerland) in 1988 and started racing
sidecars. And Bones, my partner since 1999 - who builds, maintains and
rides our sidecars and landspeed/drag bikes and lets me have a go at it
myself...
Other details of
competition: First raced as a Sidecar passenger at Amaroo in
April 1989; 16 years of fun racing on modern and historic sidecars with
different riders; teamed up with 'Bones' in 1998 and did more of the
same at Australian Championship level, plus went to New Zealand for the
2003 Street Series; joined the Dry Lake Racers Association and went to
Lake Gairdner in South Australia in March 2005 with a TZ350 ex GP bike
and got 'Salt Fever and a need for Speed'!
Major Achievements:
3rd at Bathurst in 2000 on an F1 1000cc Sidecar; Qualified for the
World Sidecars at Phillip Island in 2001; 5th in the NZ Street Series
on an F2 600cc Sidecar in 2003; Won the 2004 F3 Australian Sidecar
